Welcome

South Croydon United Church

Thank you for visiting the website of South Croydon United Church (SCUC).

Our Church was formed in 1977 when the congregations of the former Bartlett Street Methodist Church and the Aberdeen Road United Reformed Church (URC) agreed to amalgamate. As a local ecumenical partnership we adhere to both the Methodist and URC traditions - we like to think we take the best of each!- and preachers (ordained and lay) are drawn from both traditions. We are members of both the URC Southern Synod and the Purley Circuit of the Methodist Church. Our Minister, Reverend Martin Knight, is also Minister of St Paul's United Reformed Church in South Croydon.

We usually meet for worship on Sunday mornings at 10.30 and are always delighted to welcome visitors to our Church. Our current plan gives details of our forthcoming services.

We are a small church seeking to spread the Good News throughout our neighbourhood. We have strong links with St Peter’s Anglican Church and regularly support local charities such as Croydon Nightwatch, Croydon Churches Floating Shelter and Hestia Domestic Abuse.

We usually work directly within the local community and on 21 June we resumed our Jack and Jill Club which provides musical entertainment, primarily for retired people, on a Tuesday afternoon.

We have a monthly Bible Study breakfast. Join us on Sunday 11 December at 9 a.m. for coffee, croissants and chat.

We are running an Open Door session during term time on a Tuesday morning from 08.45-09.45. Tea, coffee and toast are provided and all are welcome.
